(Primary Performances for All Musicians)
* Please do not schedule any other activities on Gala Concert days. Gala concerts include a dress rehearsal and require musicians to observe the performance of the ensemble that is ahead of their current level. Dress rehearsal attendance is mandatory, no exceptions will be made. Students that do not participate in the dress rehearsal will be removed from the concert.

Join us as we say “Thank You!” to Godspeak for hosting our rehearsals by playing with Godspeak’s full band for Palm Sunday services. Open to Preparatory and Symphony orchestra members.

3. Plan your symphonic journey over the years by setting goals for our special ensembles.

Virtuosi Ensemble

The most prestigious ensemble in our program, the Virtuosi Ensemble is a chamber orchestra comprised primarily of the principal players of our Symphony Orchestra, performs conductorless, and is widely recognized as a pre-college level ensemble and a high mark of distinction.

Virtuosi studies an additional program in parallel with the Symphony Orchestra, performs 3 additional concerts, collaborates with professional musicians, and closes the season with the performance of an entire symphony.

Virtuosi performs in our “Dialogues Concert Series,” and members receive concert stipends to offset tuition costs.

Virtuosi members are required to be Symphony Orchestra members, and must play a principal audition to be eligible for consideration. Eligible members must be able to perform at all Dialogues Concerts and Special Events.

Flore Ensemble

The Flore Ensemble is comprised of Youth Strings members preparing to join Preparatory Orchestra and studies standard string orchestra repertoire in addition to their Youth Strings music. The Flore Ensemble performs along Virtuosi at Dialogues Chamber Symphony in May.

Members who show exceptional preparation for Youth Strings are selected by invitation. Musicians should indicate their interest on the application form and arrive to the first rehearsal of the season well prepared.

Chamber Music at LOYO

Chamber music is performed in small groups of 3 to 8 members, and is a celebration of friendship among musicians.

Between than the grandeur of the Symphony and the thrill of solo repertoire, musicians gain skill in communication, leadership, and artistry.

California Young Artists Symphony

CYAS is LOYO’s sister orchestra, and the premier pre-professional orchestra in Southern California. Members are selected by competitive multi-round auditions from amongst the top institutions in the region including the Colburn Conservatory, USC, UCLA, and beyond. Please let our directors know if you are interested in applying for CYAS and they will guide you through the process.
