Lyceum Oaks welcomes young musicians for a fully immersive summer program built around symphonic and chamber music. Students have a chance to experience daily rehearsals in symphonic and small groups, coachings, masterclasses, and performances.

Summerfest 2025 will find its home on the beautiful university campus of CSUCI. With chamber music and classes in the beautiful Central Bell Tower, and orchestra rehearsals in Malibu Hall.

Daily Schedule

Students participate in an immersive musical experience, with instructors and classmates from across the region of Southern California.

Afternoon Concerts and Masterclasses (Daily)

Students are able to perform for faculty masterclasses and in afternoon recitals where they can perform chamber music for their peers.

Summerfest Faculty Concert (Faculty Performance) – July 18th at 4:00 PM

An exclusive performance given by our faculty for festival members.

Dialogues Miniature (Faculty and Virtuosi Groups) – July 19th at 6:30 PM

Our top-performing students are invited to join faculty members alongside Virtuosi in performing at our Summer Dialogues Miniature at Padre Serra.

Gala Concert (Closing Concert) – July 20th at 4PM

Our festival closing Gala Concert is the culminating performance of our symphony orchestras.

Alexander Tseitlin, Senior Faculty
Violin | Viola | Cello | Principal Conductor

Alexander Michael Tseitlin is a conductor, violinist, violist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and pedagogue based in Thousand Oaks, just outside of Los Angeles, California. Active in the classical, contemporary, and film fields, Alexander continues to gain prominence as an artist, director, and executive.

As a violinist, Alexander made his orchestral debut at age 9 with Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” at the Lyceum Theater in San Diego, and continued to compete at the international level, winning the California International Young Artists Competition at age 13. He continues to perform as a soloist throughout the United States as well as Germany, Italy, Austria, Russia, Belgium, South Africa, and Portugal…

Rebecca Tseitlin, Senior Faculty
Violin | Viola | Cello

Rebecca Ann Tseitlin is a violinist, violist, multi-instrumentalist, conductor, and pedagogue based in Thousand Oaks, just outside of Los Angeles, California.

Rebecca spent her early years in Thousand Oaks, California studying with Heifetz assistant Claire Hodgkins, Russian pedagogue Abram Shtern, and international soloist Mark Kaplan at UCLA. She studied under scholarships from the Leni Fe Bland Foundation, Maestro Foundation, and Presser Foundation. She held the concertmaster position of the UCLA Philharmonia for her two years during her studies there. She has received top prizes in the SYMF competition, Redlands Bowl Young Artist Competition, Brentwood-Westwood Young Artist Competition and New West Young Artist Competition…

Ariana O’Connell, Fellowship Faculty
Violin

Ariana O’Connell is earning her master’s degree in Violin Performance at the University of Southern California’s Thornton of Music, studying with Glenn Dicterow. She earned second place in the 2019 Chicago Violin Competition and first prize in the2019 Midwest Conservatory Concerto Competition. Ariana has been the associate concertmaster of the California Artists Symphony since 2022.

Cam Audras, Fellowship Faculty
Viola

Polymathic at heart, Cam Audras believes musicians possess the power to serve as advocates for social good. Audras has served as Principal Violist with the Santa Barbara Chamber Players, the California Young Artists Symphony, and Symphony of the Vines. Additionally, he holds substitute positions with the Santa Barbara Symphony, New West Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Santa Cruz Symphony, and Rogue Valley Symphony. Audras has claimed top prizes in the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Competition, Valley Talent Music Scholarship Competition, and Henry Schwab Violin and Viola Competition…

Danny O’Connell, Fellowship Faculty
Cello

Danny began playing the cello at the age of four at the Community School of the Arts at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. He studied with Carol Ourada for thirteen years as well as Dr. Tanya Carey. Throughout the years, Danny has traveled all around the world with his cello including Alaska, Spain, Scotland, and Austria. He was awarded the 2016 Norman Cooper International Chamber Music Competition Senior Division 1st Place in Scotland. Danny also won the Sigma Alpha Iota La Grange Chapter competition in 2018. He has played in Symphony Center under the direction of John Nelson in the Credo Alumni Orchestra in 2019 and this past summer under David Chan in the celebration for the 25th season Credo…

Svend Lyykegaard, Fellowship Faculty
Trumpet

Svend Lykkegaard, trumpeter and conductor, currently holds the position of Principal Trumpet with the California Young Artist Symphony in Los Angeles, a role he has fulfilled since October 2022. His dedication to the brass community extends beyond performance, as evidenced by his concurrent role as President and conductor of the Los Angeles Brass Alliance since 2023. Our Virtuosi Ensemble is an elite conductorless orchestra lead by festival director Alexander Tseitlin. Virtuosi members must audition for the ensemble.

Chamber Music

Chamber groups are available to Full Session musicians in addition to Symphony Orchestra. Members are able to select their own repertoire in conjunction with their faculty coach.

To begin the registration process you will need to:

  • Complete the registration form below
  • Submit your registration fee

– Your registration is completed only after receipt of tuition and audition video.
– Registration fees apply towards tuition for all festival musicians, but are non-refundable in case of withdrawal.

Audition Video
Audition material is used for ensemble and seat placement:
– A 2 to 5 minute video of your solo repertoire (performed accompanied or unaccompanied), recorded after January 1st 2025.

Current CVYO Members
– CVYO musicians who apply to Summerfest are automatically accepted into the orchestra they are playing in during the academic year, but will be assessed if applying for a higher ensemble.
– CVYO musicians applying for Fall Semester are automatically accepted into their Summerfest ensemble, and may waive their summer audition.

Chamber Music and Encore Requests

(Full Session Only)
We will do our best to accommodate all chamber music group requests.

Encore Requests: Symphony Orchestra will program an encore piece for the Festival Closing Gala. This may be a symphonic non-classical work, including selections from film favorites.
